SEVENTH GRADE BAND EXPECTATIONS
Attendance
1.Rehearsals – You are required to be in rehearsal if you are in school that day.
2.Concerts – You are required to participate in our concerts. Please notify your
parents of the dates and times now so that there will be no conflicts.
3.Please use the bathroom prior to or following class. Every minute of rehearsal time
is precious.
4.If you are tardy from class, I expect you to have a hall pass. If you are truant from
class, school disciplinary action will be taken.
Behavior
1.Respect each other. No name calling, putting down, or whispering.
2.Do YOUR best. Everyone has their own beginning point.
3.Abide by school rules at all times.
4.Please do not talk when Mr. Hagarty is giving instructions. Thank you!
5.Have fun!!! Music is all about exploration and learning. Make it work for you.
Discipline
1.Food or gum is not allowed in band, either object can be a potential choking hazard in this activity.
2.I enjoy having you in band and want you to stay here. If, for whatever reason, something has disturbed you in
class, please feel free to talk with me or contact the guidance counselor for further assistance. Our classroom
should be a safe environment for you.
Grading
Students will receive a letter grade for Band. Grades will be determined on the following basis:
Preparedness for class –
*Having your music and a PENCIL (not a pen, thank you)
*Returning any homework assignments in a timely fashion
*Practicing on your instrument is crucial for the physical and mental development, spend at least 3 days,
20min/day enjoying your instrument
Class Participation –
*Actively participates in warm-ups
*Is ready to play when instructed
*Is quiet during class instruction
*Reports to assigned seating in band
*Answers and asks appropriate questions
Demonstrates knowledge –
*Can perform rhythm when displayed on screen
*Can play short sections of their pieces accurately
*Marks their scores accordingly to improve performances
*Quizzes
Attendance at concerts –
*The Band is an ensemble and each member is significant to the success of the group. Our concerts are the demonstration of our knowledge and artistic ability. It is imperative that everyone participates in the concerts. If a student is unable to attend due to an emergency, please E-mail me at my school account. There is no success or satisfaction in spending months of rehearsal and practice and then not performing to see and experience the final outcome. Please consider this requirement carefully as you agree to participate in this course.

**There is a possibility of participating in the annual MICCA festival held in Foxboro, Ma. during the weekend of April 1-3, 2016, more information will follow after Winter Break.**The Annual Foxboro Music Association Scholarship Auditions will be held on April 28, 2014.
